Our Story
Wake & Wander started with a simple realization. Instead of spending a small fortune on birthday parties that last a few hours, we found more value in taking the kids on a trip and making memories that actually stick. At first, that meant road trips to different states up and down the East Coast. They were fun, but after enough 10 plus hour drives, the novelty wore off.
We tried flying a few times, but two members of our family are certified flying skeptics. So a few years ago, we decided to give cruising a shot. Ironically, we had to fly to the port, which was not my favorite part. Still, once we were on the ship, something clicked. We loved it. The ease, the pace, and the fact that everything we needed was right there.
From there, we started looking for cruises out of closer, drivable ports and we were hooked. Is it a little more than a birthday party? Sure. A little more than a little, if we’re being honest. But we’d rather spend four or five days at sea with zero plans, a drink in hand, and endless food for what is truly a bottomless stomach than spend that difference on airfare alone for a shorter trip.
No itineraries to stress over. Always something to do. No worrying about where to eat or what it’s going to cost. The drinks keep flowing, the views keep changing, and our floating hotel does the rest. Wake & Wander is where we share those trips, the places we visit, and why this way of traveling works so well for our family.
